You may justify a workaholic's devotion to your career by arguing that you are "slaving" so that "others may benefit," which may or may not be so. You must be entirely above-board or take the time to correct past mistakes or deceits before you reach the top, because sooner or later you will have to account for your actions. However, rest assured that no matter your faults, it is NEVER too late to begin again when you have learned from mistakes to build a firm foundation beneath the edifice you plan to erect.
