Syed Farook Radicalized by his Pakistani Wife
Investigators now believe that Syed Rizwan Farook was radicalized by his wife, Tashfeen Malik, leading to last week’s mass shooting in San Bernardino. The FBI reported that Malik had posted a Facebook message that pledged allegiance to the ISIS leader just before they went on their rampage. Farook met Malik on an online Islamic website and they married on August 16, 2014.
Farook was born with his Gemini Sun conjunct Chiron (June 14, 1987; Chicago, IL; time unknown), with both opposing a Saturn-Uranus conjunction. This dynamic polarity suggests a split personality, a wounded psyche that shows a conventional side (Saturn) but prepares for a radical break (Uranus). His Mars at 15º Cancer conjoins Mercury, with both closely quincunx Saturn, which may express itself as closely controlled but explosive anger.
Malik has three telling aspects to her Cancer Sun (July 13, 1986; Islamabad, Pakistan; time unknown), including an aggressive, impulsive opposition to Mars in Capricorn. Malik’s Sun is also given a religious expression by the trine to Jupiter in Pisces which, in turn, is radicalized by the square to Uranus in Sagittarius. The Cancer Sun quincunx Uranus describes her radical roots, and her own seditious behavior.
Both have natal Mars in the critical degrees described in last week’s article, "The Insane Violence Configuration". Undoubtedly, Malik was highly persuasive in transforming Farook into a crazed killer: her Mercury-Pluto square tends to act obsessively and dogmatically, and since it aspects his Venus-Moon trine, he’s receptive to what she has to say. At the time of the shootings, his progressed Sun at 20º Cancer was exactly conjunct her natal Sun, showing that he was carrying out her agenda. It allowed him to express the hidden half of his wounded psyche.
The recently discovered planet Eris, referred to as the "spiritual warrior", plays a central role in both their charts. They both have Eris at 16º Aries, and they both have natal Mars squaring Eris. At the time of the shootings, transiting Uranus was at 16º Aries where it set off their natal Mars-Uranus squares. This gives us a preview of what to expect when transiting Uranus and Eris become conjunct next year, especially when modified by Mars. Watch out for this three-planet combination!
Mark Zuckerberg’s $45 Billion Donation
Last week, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, welcomed their new baby daughter Max into the world and also announced that they were donating 99% of their Facebook shares to charity. Those shares are currently worth $45 billion, but after Zuckerberg received tremendous positive publicity, a number of critics questioned his motives, starting with the substantial tax benefits he’ll receive.
Zuckerberg’s birth time is unknown, but this enormous donation gives us a chance to test his rectified birth time of 2:10 am (see NewsScope for August 31, 2015. Progressing this chart to December 1, when he made the announcement, shows his progressed Midheaven at 12º38’ Capricorn, precisely conjunct his natal Jupiter at 12º38’ Capricorn. This direct hit between his progressed Midheaven and Jupiter in Capricorn fits perfectly with his announced plan.
The progressed Midheaven here is also trine his Moon-Saturn conjunction in the 8th house of shared wealth, taxes, and donations. His progressed Mars at 11º Scorpio is nearly conjunct natal Saturn, showing the act of structuring his wealth.
The tie in with his daughter can be seen in the conditions of his 5th house of children, which holds the asteroid Vesta at 9º Cancer. Zuckerberg’s progressed Moon-Jupiter conjunction shows a generous spirit, and it’s exactly opposite natal Vesta. Sticking with the progressions, note that his progressed Ascendant at 23º Aries is conjunct natal Ceres, the parenting asteroid. Its location in the 2nd house of money further underscores how parenting and wealth management go together.
Although the Saturn and Capricorn influences indicate that he is making a practical business decision with his wealth, he’s also experiencing a progressed Sun-Venus conjunction. This warm-hearted, loving connection is in effect now and becomes exact over the coming year. This once-in-a-lifetime connection aims to spread peace and love, especially since it’s being activated by a sextile to transiting Eris. In this case, Eris as the spiritual warrior is creative rather than destructive.
Zuckerberg’s financial plan fits neatly with the current position of transiting Pluto at 14º Capricorn, where it favorably trines his natal Venus at 14º Taurus. This signature describes the strategic structuring (Pluto in Capricorn) of his abundant wealth (Venus in Taurus).
Pluto here is also squaring the U.S. Saturn, which represents American institutional structures, including LLCs (limited liability companies). His $45 billion is going to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which is registered as an LLC. In a social democracy like Sweden or Denmark, Zuckerberg’s wealth would have been largely taxed and spent by the national government as they saw fit. In the U.S. system, plutocrats like Zuckerberg are offered tax-free havens** to spend their wealth on society as they see fit.
